our35212: Lyndsey Robinson
Lyndsey Robinson runs Crestwood Yoga & Massage, one of the many great local businesses in the Crestwood Shopping Center. I recently asked Lyndsey five questions.
How did you get involved with yoga?
I started practicing yoga in college, around 2001, after injuring my back and recovering from shoulder surgery.
What makes your yoga practice unique?
I teach according to the students’ needs and in a way that offers people not only a physical experience, but a mental and emotional experience of what yoga (i.e. union) truly is, by guiding not only postures for the body but postures for the breath and the mind.
Why did you pick Crestwood for your studio?
I live in the area and wanted to offer an opportunity to explore yoga to this neighborhood and area of Birmingham. This is a great neighborhood that supports local business, and it seemed ideal to be in the Crestwood Shopping Center where other small businesses are located.
What do you hope people leave your studio feeling/knowing/having experienced?
I hope people leave knowing that they can do, find and adapt yoga to fit their personal needs — that their body is their best teacher. I’m simply a guide and container for them to explore that space.
If you’re not in your yoga studio, where would we find you?
When I’m not teaching, I’m either at my office in Hoover seeing individuals/couples for yoga, yoga therapy or counseling, or I’m at my home taking care of the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a business. I also do my own personal Sadhana practice in my meditation/yoga space in my home.
