Four new films are opening at The Edge 12 today:

  • Bridesmaids: Director Paul Fieg and producer Judd Apatow team up for this comedy that stars the uproarious Kristen Wiig as Annie, a romantically unattached failed bakery owner who fears she’s losing her BFF Lillian (Maya Rudolph) when Lillian announces she’s gotten engaged. Annie’s anxieties deepen as Lillian grows close to Helen (Rose Byrne), a wealthy and beautiful new friend who quickly assumes control of planning all the pre-wedding festivities. Annie, who starts the film answering a booty call from the casually cruel yet undeniably handsome Ted (Jon Hamm), then develops a flirtation with an Irish cop named Rhodes (Chris O’Dowd) after he pulls Annie over one night thinking she’s driving drunk. As the low-self-esteem Annie sabotages this new possibility for love, she also feels the most important friendship in her life slipping away. Tragic as this all sounds, the reviews for this COMEDY have been handing it high marks for hilarity. (Rated R)

    The Bridesmaids trailer:

  • The Hangover, Part II: Right after the bachelor party in Las Vegas, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) jet to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. Stu’s plan for a subdued pre-wedding brunch, however, goes seriously awry. Will these guys never learn? The scene-stealing role of the monkey is uncredited. (Rated R)

Trailer for The Hangover Part II:

  • Kung Fu Panda 2 (2D and 3D): Po (voiced by Jack Black), the titular bear, joins forces with a group of new Kung Fu masters to take on an old enemy with a deadly new weapon. Also featuring the voice talents of Angelina Jolie (as a tiger named Tigress), Seth Rogen (as an insect named Mantis), and Jackie Chan (as a monkey named, of all things, Monkey). (Rated PG)

    Kung Fu Panda 2 trailer:

  • Wigger: Wigger chronicles the life of Brandon, a young White male who immerses himself in African American musical culture while struggling to overcome the confines of an impoverished racist family headed by a neo-Nazi father. (Rated R)

Held Over:

  • Fast Five
  • Jumping the Broom
  • Madea’s Big Happy Family
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
  • Priest
  • Thor (3D)

The following seven films closed their current run yesterday:

  • African Cats
  • The Conspirator
  • Insidious
  • Jane Eyre
  • Prom
  • Rio
  • Something Borrowed
