Darrell

A Baton Rouge, LA native, Darrell became a resident of Crestwood North in 2001 after touring 100+ houses in the suburbs to the South. A licensed veterinarian who has elected to apply his skills in biomedical research, Darrell has also found time to be an active part of the community. Many Crestwood residents enjoyed the email newsletter the Ultra-Local News, which Darrell sent out to hundreds of area residents every two weeks for over two years. And with Kristina, his wife, he also operated the Crestwood Produce Co-op from 2004 through 2005. Darrell is currently vice president of the Crestwood North Neighborhood Association.

Fred
Fred is a bungalow-dwelling resident of Crestwood North and has lived in Birmingham since 1987. He is a native Californio, but feels at home in Alabama, the birthplace of his maternal grandmother. He maintains a blog with no particular focus at spitballarmy.com. His first vegetable garden was attempted in 2010 – let’s just say it was a “test run.”

Kelley
Kelley grew up in Birmingham and lived in Crestwood North for 8 years. She is now in seminary in St. Louis, and we hope she and her family move back after she completes her studies.

Laurel
Laurel is the former managing editor of Lipstick magazine, a local start-up that she helped shape from inception. She also served as the online Lifestyles and Travel editor for ReZoom.com out of Nashville, Tennessee. Her work has appeared in mental_floss, Flower and Southern Lady. She helps corporate clients, such as Morgan Creek Winery, Gnar Juice and Red Mountain Law, with PR, marketing materials and media.

Paul
Although he’s not a cowboy, Paul is definitely at home on the range. He doesn’t have any professional culinary qualifications—but he’s passionate about tasty food made using fresh, local ingredients. He attributes his love affair with all things kitchen-related to his Italian grandparents who introduced him to the wonderful world of the kitchen… and to his top secret family recipe for limoncello.
